Over the past six months, we've been tackling this Downtown loft renovation in the heart of the New Orleans Warehouse District. This 1700 sq. foot unit had good bones but needed a ton of work. The property had a great amount of natural light with a spacious floor plan. The kitchen and bathrooms of the home were in dire need of a renovation and needed to be brought into the 21st century. The flooring was original oak but needed to be refinished due to the previous home owners ruining them with black paint. Our clients need for functional yet sophisticated style was apparent after our initial meetings. Our clients love for contemporary design helped us to pull textiles and finishes that reflected their needs. The color palette for the space was dictated by this metallic grasscloth we became obsessed with. The wallpaper had tones of blue, green, gold and silver which coincided with the adjacent exposed brick walls. The plaster detail on the accent walls were existing to the entire unit and had the same color story as the selected paper. These colors dictated every other selection proposed for the home. The kitchen and bathrooms were the most challenging. The kitchen prior had zero storage and no counter top space. There were many challenges such as fur downs, half walls, high ceilings and sprinkler systems to address. Our goal was to take up as much space as possible for seating and entertaining. All in all this project came out just as planned with a sophisticated yet functional style for this young family. The layered lighting, fixtures and finishes really make this project shine. We couldn't be more proud!
